VMware-Toolsの警告「[ warning] [vmusr:vmtoolsd] Failed registration of app type 2 (Signals) from plugin unity.」を出ないように対策しました！

WindowsをESXi上で動かしていて、「警告」が出いていたので対策しました！

[ warning] [vmusr:vmtoolsd] Failed registration of app type 2 (Signals) from plugin unity.

こちらの、エラーになります！

前提条件

• ESXi 5.5(5.xで出ているようです)
• (GuestOS)Windows Server 2012 R2
• VMware-toolsを入れてる(v9.4.0でした)

警告ログ

イベントビューアで以下のようなメッセージが記録されていました。

[ warning] [vmusr:vmtoolsd] Failed registration of app type 2 (Signals) from plugin unity.

対策方法

VMwareのサイトにありました。

VMware KB: Installing VMware Tools 5.1 on a Windows virtual machine reports Unity warnings in Windows Event logs

• tools.confを作る
• 指定の場所に配置
• VMware-toolsサービス 再起動

tools.confを作る

[unity]
Pbrpc.enable=false

などと記載して、「tools.conf」を作成します。

指定の場所に配置

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and 2012:

C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Tools\

Windows XP and Windows Server 2000/2003:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Tools\

に配置します。

VMware-toolsサービス 再起動

「サービス」から、「VMware Tools」を選択して再起動

これで、「警告」は出なくなると思います。
今様子見中。

原因

Cause
These warnings are related to the Unity feature of VMware Tools for Fusion/Workstation.
The Unity feature is not used by ESXi and, therefore, reports these warnings.

Unity は FusionとWorkstationで使う機能だと。 ESXiでは使ってないと。
「無効」で問題なさそうですね。

まとめ

• ESXiで使ってない機能なので、無効化しちゃって大丈夫！
• てっとり早く、解決させたい方はコチラの手順でお試しください
